7 Fun Things to Do in New York City Before 2024 Ends
Looking for fun things to do in New York City this fall and winter?
Summer may be over and there may only be 3 more months in 2024 but that doesn’t mean the fun has to end! In fact, as the weather cools and with the holidays right around the corner, it is one of our favorite times to be in New York City! Here are 7 fun things to do in New York City before 2024 ends.
Go to New York Comic Con – October 17 to October 20
P.C.: wikipedia, I, Jeffrey O. Gustafson
Whether you are a fan of movies, TV shows, comics or collectibles, New York Comic Con at the Jacob Javits Center is a celebration of pop culture, and it is a great place to meet people with similar interests. There will be a lot of cosplayers, exciting panels, exhibitors, celebrity meet and greets and more happening this year and we can’t wait.
Join the Village Halloween Parade – October 31
P.C.: wikipedia, Steven Pisano
This year will be the 51st annual Village Halloween Parade. It is the largest Halloween party in the world with over 50,000 participants in costumes. This parade takes place in Greenwich Village on Sixth Avenue from Spring Street to 16th Street. You never know what you may see and who you may meet! Another fun thing to do around Halloween this year is to check out the Nightmare Before Christmas event at the New York Botanical Garden.
Watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade – November 28
P.C.: yelp, Jeff B.
An annual Thanksgiving tradition for families for almost 100 years is to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Giant and colorful balloons of cartoon characters and mascots, marching bands, musical performers and festive floats are all the stars of the show. It starts at Central Park West (77th Street) and ends at Macy’s in Herald Square. Watching this parade then preparing for and eating a huge Thanksgiving feast with friends and family is the perfect Thanksgiving Day for us.
Ice Skate at a NYC Landmark
One of the signs that winter is coming soon is when the ice-skating rinks return in New York City. Two of the most popular and famous rinks are at two NYC landmarks, Bryant Park and Rockefeller Center and they both attract thousands of skaters from around the world every year. A visit to either rink is a great way to get excited about the winter months and the holiday season.

The cooler months are the ideal time to visit New York City and to join Ahoy New York on one of our food tours. Celebrate Christmas Across New York City
There are so many holiday and Christmas attractions throughout New York City. Some of these activities and events that are always on top of our to-do list include the holiday displays at Macy’s, the Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Gardens, the massive Christmas light displays at Dyker Heights and the Holiday Lights event at the Bronx Zoo.
Do Your Holiday Shopping at a NYC Holiday Market
P.C.: yelp, Brenda T.
Finally, looking for an unforgettable gift for that special someone? One way to get inspired for fun gift ideas is to wander around and shop at the holiday markets across the city. Some of the biggest holiday markets include the Bryant Park Winter Village, the Union Square Holiday Market and the Columbus Circle Holiday Market. Plus, if you are a foodie, you can pick a yummy snack or two for yourself while you shop.
