Ahoy New York is celebrating 15+ years of foodie fun!
Wow, time flies. 2024 is Ahoy New York Tours & Tasting’s 15th anniversary. From humble beginnings to one of New York City’s top food tour companies, we have gone through a lot of exciting changes, and we have a lot of people to thank to make this incredible milestone possible. To celebrate, here are 15 fun facts of Ahoy New York Food Tours.
– Alana is the founder of Ahoy New York Tours & Tasting and she alone start giving tours in Manhattan back in 2009. Since then, Ahoy New York has grown a lot. We went from one person running the whole show to a staff of 8, which includes 7 tour guides and a blogger. We are all very proud of what we have built.
– The name of our company came from shortening part of our founder’s name, Alana Hoye to “Ahoy”. Ahoy is also a fun word to say!
– Our Chinatown and Little Italy Food Fest Walking Food Tour is one of our first tours and it is still our most popular tour. With everything from fluffy sponge cakes to delicious Italian cheeses, it highlights some of the amazing foods that you can find in these two historic neighborhoods.
– As much as things change, Ferrara’s delicious cannolo has always been a part of our Chinatown and Little Italy food tour. This sweet bite of pure bliss is irresistible.
– Our second oldest tour is Tasty Global Bites – A Culinary Journey through Nolita (North of Little Italy) and it started in 2017. It has changed a lot too, but this tour has always focused on the diversity of cuisines that you can find in one of our favorite foodie neighborhoods, Nolita.
– The Market 57 Chelsea Food Tour is our newest tour. It was launched this year, 2024. It stars some of the amazing eateries in Market 57, all curated by the James Beard Foundation. It is also our first indoor food tour.
– Ahoy New York has always been about celebrating the food and the history of New York City and to do that, we couldn’t do it alone. We have worked with and partnered with several historic eateries, neighborhood favorites and hidden gems. We want to give a big thanks to all those who made these tours possible.
– Thousands of people have joined us on tour over these 15 years including popular food bloggers and some names that you might recognize like Barbara Corcoran from Shark Tank. Thanks to everyone who went on an Ahoy food tour!
– Our tours have consistently been ranked 5 stars on TripAdvisor, Google Reviews, and many other review websites. Thanks so much for all those who have left reviews! Leaving a review really helps us and we appreciate all those who have shared kind words over the years.
