Restaurant Openings in New York City to Look Forward to in 2018
As 2017 comes to a close, we are looking forward to an exciting 2018! The foodie scene in New York City is constantly changing and we expect no different in the new year. Here are some exciting restaurant openings in New York City to look forward to in 2018. Some of these restaurants are already open and some of them are scheduled to open very soon.
Kellogg’s NYC – 31 E 17th St
P.C.: yelp, Tom G.
Kellogg’s just moved their breakfast bar into a new, bigger space in Union Square. It has a cereal bar with tons of interesting toppings to choose from and other treats like donuts, ice cream sandwiches and cereal specialty drinks. There is even an unusual take on the classic chicken and waffles on the menu. It is Eggo waffles served with corn flake- crusted chicken. Yum!
Shinka Ramen & Sake – 93 Bowery
Shinka Ramen & Sake in the Wydham Garden hotel fills the void for top notch ramen in Chinatown. It just opened up and we can’t wait to try some of their delicious noodles.
Hwa Yuan – 42 East Broadway
P.C.: yelp, Mickey C.
Hwa Yuan also just opened in Chinatown. It is actually a revival of a once popular restaurant with the same name that first opened in 1968 (and closed in the 1980’s). Hwa Yuan reopened in the same location, it is owned by the son of the previous owner and it will feature the same Szechuan dishes that made it famous.
Sorbillo Pizzeria – 334 Bowery
P.C.: yelp, Cindy V.
One of the most famous Italian pizza chefs, Gino Sorbillo has finally bought his iconic Naples pizza to New York City. The Sorbillo Pizzeria in Nolita is his first overseas outpost and it has been creating a ton of buzz since it opened.
DaDong – 3 Bryant Park
P.C.: yelp, Judy Z.
Similarly Dong Zhenxiang is one of the most famous chefs from China and he has opened his first restaurant in the United States. DaDong is a Michelin- starred restaurant chain, renowned for their roast duck. The duck will cost $98 and it can be served with caviar for an extra $42 so it is not cheap but it is sure to be a memorable meal.
Pier 17
P.C.: wikipedia, Jim.henderson
After some delays, Pier 17 is currently scheduled to open summer 2018. It will be highlighted by a seafood restaurant and a food market from Jean-Georges Vongerichten, a restaurant from David Chang and the vegan restaurant, CHLOE. It is sure to become a must see foodie destination when it finally does open.
Chick-fil-A – 144 Fulton St
Finally, we love Chick-fil-A’s chicken sandwiches and they are opening the largest Chick-fil-A ever in 2018. It is located right next the Fulton Street Station, it will be double the size of any other Chick-fil-A and it will have a rooftop terrace.
