Fun Day Trip Ideas for Each New York City Borough
You don’t have to travel far from New York City to take advantage of the great spring and summer weather. In fact, there are a lot of fun things to do that are just a subway or ferry ride away! So with that in mind, here are some fun day trip ideas for each New York City borough.
Manhattan: Central Park
Central Park is like an oasis in the heart of New York City. It is a great place to relax and there are also so many fun things to do and see. You can organize a picnic, find concerts, rent a boat, explore a castle and even visit a zoo here. Trust us, you can easily spend a whole day at Central Park.
Other Ideas: The High Line, Hudson Yards and an Ahoy New York food tour

Brooklyn: Coney Island
Coney Island has had a lot exciting additions the last few years. Luna Park and the other amusement parks in the area are always expanding and adding new rides and attractions. If you love roller coasters, there is always the iconic Cyclone and the new Thunderbolt coaster. If you love animals, there is the New York Aquarium and if you love baseball, you can watch a Brooklyn Cyclones game! After all that, you can just enjoy the Coney Island boardwalk and beach.
Other Ideas: Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Prospect Park and DUMBO

Queens: Flushing Meadows Corona Park
Flushing Meadows Corona Park is one of our favorite parks in New York City. It was the site of the New York World’s Fair and you can still see the iconic Unisphere. Plus the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Citi Field & the New York Mets, New York Hall of Science, the Queens Museum of Art, Queens Theatre in the Park, the Queens Zoo and the New York State Pavilion are all in the area.
Other Ideas: The Rockaways

Bronx: Bronx Zoo
The Bronx Zoo is the biggest zoo in New York City and in fact it is one of the largest zoos in the United States! The penguins, gorillas, lions, tigers and bears (oh my!) are all big draws. We also love riding the Wild Asia Monorail and if you are feeling adventurous, check out the Bronx Zoo Treetop Adventure which has rope courses for all skill levels.
Other Ideas: City Island and the New York Botanical Garden

Staten Island: Empire Outlets
After several delays, the Empire Outlets are finally open as New York City’s first outlet mall. It offers a bunch of exciting shopping and dining options and even more stores, restaurants and attractions are coming soon. The best part is it is just a quick walk after taking the Staten Island Ferry from Lower Manhattan.
Other Ideas: The rest of St George (Staten Island Yankees, National Lighthouse Museum and the St George Theatre)
