Our End of Summer New York City Foodie Bucket List
The summer is not over yet! We want to pack as much foodie fun as we can in the last few weeks so here is our end of the summer New York City foodie bucket list. What is on your foodie bucket list?
Have Fun at the Feast of San Gennaro
P.C.: yelp, Marieta P.
The Feast of San Gennaro is easily the most exciting time to be in Little Italy. There will be food, entertainment, games and more on Mulberry Street. You also can’t forget about the cannoli eating contest! The 93rd Annual Feast of San Gennaro starts on September 12 and ends on the 22nd. Be sure to stay tuned to our blog for our guide with everything you need to know.
Go to the Last Vendy Awards
P.C.: yelp, Chris E.
This year is the 15th and last Vendy Awards and it will take place on September 21 in Governors Island. The Vendy Awards celebrates all the amazing street food in New York City and we are always finding exciting new places to try here. Since this is the last Vendy Awards, we are expecting this one is going to be the best one yet!
Try Something New at the New York Vegandale Food Drink Festival
P.C.: Sweetgreen
There are more and more healthy, vegetarian and vegan options in New York City, so we knew it was only a matter of time before a big food festival focused on vegan food came to New York City. New York Vegandale Food Drink Festival is on September 28 in Randall’s Island Park.
Find Some New Dessert Spots
P.C.: yelp, Bing R.
There are so many good dessert spots to check out in New York City before the summer ends! One that caught our eye is Uncle Tetsu (135 W 41st St) with their fluffy Japanese cheesecakes. We also want to check out Ample Hills Creamery (DeKalb Market Hall & Other Locations) with their intriguing flavors with names like “Baby, I Was Churned This Way” “I Contain Breakfast Foods” and “The Hell’s Kitchen Sink”.
Get a Lobster Roll
We are definitely going to make sure we get a top notch lobster roll before the summer ends! Our favorite spots include Luke’s Lobster (93 E 7th St & Other Locations), Burger & Lobster (39 W 19th St & 132 W 43rd St) and Lobster Place (Chelsea Market) but we are definitely open to try new places!
Check Out the New Restaurants Opening in Little Italy
We are always excited when a new restaurant opens in Little Italy (and Chinatown). Manero’s Pizza (113 Mulberry St) just opened open and their pizza looks amazing. They sell pizza by the slice including a double decker! We are also still very excited about Di Palo’s Cafe (153-155 Mott St) opening up very soon too!
Get Lunch at MakiMaki
P.C.: yelp, Phuoc L.
Is MakiMaki (1369 6th Ave & 360 Lexington Ave) the future of restaurants? It is a sushi restaurant where “robots” aid in the sushi making process! We also heard about a robot making dosas at Dalup Modern Indian (350 7th Ave). We are definitely very curious how it all works!
