Seven Fun Things to Do in New York City for Fall 2018
Time flies and fall is right around the corner! The fall just happens to be home to some of the biggest annual NYC events for food, film, comics and more! So with that in mind, here are seven fun things to do in New York City for fall 2018 that you may have overlooked.
New York Film Festival – Sept 28 to Oct 14

First off if you are a film buff, the New York Film Festival, presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, is a fun event that is held every fall. In fact, this year will be the 56th New York Film Festival, making it one of the longest running film festivals in the world. It is sure to have an diverse lineup of fascinating films from around the world.
New York Comic Con – Oct 4 to Oct 7

New York Comic Con is the biggest celebration of pop culture in New York City. It grows bigger every year and whether you are an avid comic book reader or just love watching movies and shows on Netflix, there is truly something for everyone.
Harry Potter: A History of Magic – Oct 5 to Jan 27, 2019

There are a couple of important anniversaries in pop culture in 2018. 2018 is the 20th anniversary of the US publication of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. To celebrate, the New York Historical Society is hosting an interesting Harry Potter exhibit from October 5, 2018 – January 27, 2019. It will explore some folklore and myths that inspired Harry Potter and it will feature some drafts from JK Rowling that is rarely seen and some original Harry Potter artwork.
Ice Skating – Oct 8 to Spring

You may be surprised to find that you don’t have to wait until the winter for some of the most popular ice skating rinks to open. The rink at Rockefeller Center opens on October 8 and the rink in Bryant Park opens on October 27 so get your skates ready!
New York City Wine & Food Festival – Oct 11 to Oct 14

Also in October is the biggest foodie event in New York City, the New York City Wine and Food Festival! There will be a ton of celebrity chefs, tastings, cooking classes, panels and more throughout the city.
The Village Halloween Parade – Oct 31

The Halloween Parade in the Village is probably one of the biggest Halloween parties in the world. Whether you dress up yourself or if you just want to see all the awesome costumes, it is sure to be a good time.
Mickey: The True Original Exhibition – Nov 8 to Feb 10, 2019

Finally 2018 is also the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse’s first appearance in Steamboat Willie. There will be an exciting pop up exhibition near the High Line (60 10th Ave) and it will explore Mickey’s influence on art and pop culture. There will be a bunch of immersive experiences and Mickey Mouse artwork so it should be a lot of fun!
