One of the most popular things to do on Mother’s Day is Sunday brunch. New York City has tons of great brunch spots. Some of our favorite brunch spots include Clinton St. Baking Company (4 Clinton St), Russ & Daughters Cafe (127 Orchard St) and Lafayette (380 Lafayette St). Because Mother’s Day brunch is so popular we suggest that you definitely try to plan ahead and a get reservation.
Watch a Broadway Show

Another popular thing to do on Mother’s Day is to see a Broadway show. It is a lot of fun and you have a lot of options with classics like Chicago and Wicked and some newcomers like SpongeBob SquarePants and Hamilton, there is something for everyone. Some Broadway shows may be sold out on Mother’s Day so you may have to be more flexible with the show you watch or the day you watch it.
Picnic in the Park

Plan a Day around the Oculus and the Brookfield Mall
If the weather on Mother’s Day isn’t ideal, we recommend planning a day around the Oculus and Brookfield Mall. It can be a great backup plan. It is all indoors and there are a bunch of shops and restaurants to explore. For example, for lunch you can check out Beaubourg (225 Liberty St) at Le District which will have a special Mother’s Day menu.

The Queens Botanical Garden has some fun Mother’s Day events planned. There is a Mother’s Day brunch where you can have a picnic-style brunch in their beautiful gardens. There is also a floral design workshop for Mother’s Day bouquets the day before (May 12). So instead of just picking out a bouquet you can personalize one for your mother! You can do this workshop with your mother or just surprise her the next day with your bouquet. Similarly the New York Botanical Garden will host a Mother’s Day weekend garden party.
