Celebrate New York City’s 400th Anniversary

Did you know in 1624 the Dutch West India Company brought 30 families to establish a trading post on Governor’s Island which means New York City will be celebrating its 400th anniversary this year. The Holland Society of New York, the Saint Nicholas Society of the City of New York and the Society of First Families of New York have joined together to document and celebrate this huge milestone.
Celebrate New York State Parks’ 100th Anniversary Too

Branching out to a bit outside of New York City, 2024 is also the 100th anniversary of the founding of the New York state parks and historic sites system. There are 180 NY state parks from Long Island to Niagara Falls and this includes beaches, hiking trails, camp sites and more. There will be community celebrations, performances and special events planned in 2024 so it is the perfect year to get your Empire Pass.

Sushi legend, Keiji Nakazawa is opening Sushi Sho in Midtown by Bryant Park. Jean-Georges Vongerichten will be opening his first restaurant in Brooklyn, ABC Kitchen. Finally, Simon Kim’s Coqodaq will be a family-friendly restaurant in Flatiron that will focus on Korean fried chicken.

After many years of anticipation, Perelman Performing Arts Center finally opened in September 2023. They will bring a full year of theater, music, dance, and film to Lower Manhattan in 2024.
