The Best Noodle Shops in Chinatown, New York City
Chinatown is known for their many noodle shops. There is surprisingly quite a bit of variety that you can find. From Chinese wonton noodle soup to cold Japanese soba noodles, here are the best noodle shops in Chinatown, New York City.
HK Wonton Garden – 79 Mulberry St
HK Wonton Garden is the premier place for wonton noodle soup, a Chinese food staple. The wontons have a bit of doughiness and they are packed with so much flavor in just one bite. The noodles have a good silky texture and overall it is a top notch lunch option that won’t break the bank.
Noodle Village – 13 Mott St
Another good spot for wonton noodle soup is Noodle Village. Their broth is probably the best in Chinatown and the pork and shrimp wontons are big and juicy. These are all the necessary components for a good, quick Chinese lunch.
Tasty Hand-Pulled Noodles – 1 Doyers St
Pulled noodles have exploded in popularity the last few years and there are a number of pulled noodle shops that have opened in Chinatown. But the best is still Tasty Hand-Pulled Noodles on Doyers St. Their noodles have a nice chewy texture and you have several good options for toppings like chicken, beef or seafood. It is perfect bowl that really hits the spot, especially in the colder months.
Aux Epices – 121 Baxter St
Aux Epices is an inviting and exciting noodle shop with French and Malaysian influences. They have a number of yummy noodles but our favorite has to be their Seafood Laksa. It is full of flavor and definitely something a little different in Chinatown.
Cocoron – 61 Delancey St & 37 Kenmare St
The summer is fast approaching and if you are in the mood for cold noodles, just outside of Chinatown is Cocoron, our go to spot for soba noodles. If you never have had soba, it is quite different from Chinese noodles. Soba noodles are made with buckwheat so they have a bolder flavor. One of their more interesting dishes is their cold soba with kimchee and we highly recommend it.
Thai Son – 89 Baxter St
Pho is a Vietnamese rice noodle served in a beef broth. It is usually loaded with beef, brisket, tendons, beef balls and more. It is great with a little lemon or lime. The best place for pho in Chinatown is at a no frills Vietnamese restaurant on Baxter St, Thai Son. It is usually crowded during peak dinner and lunch hours but you are usually seated pretty quickly.
Xi’an Famous Foods – 67 Bayard St & Other Locations
Xi’an Famous Foods is known for what they call hand rip noodles. You can get it served in soup or stir fry. We especially love their noodles with their spicy cumin lamb. It has a nice kick to it and it is very tasty.
