The Best Places in New York City for Anyone with a Sweet Tooth
Do you have a sweet tooth? Craving sweets like candy, ice cream and cupcakes? Then you are in luck! New York City has a number of great options for tasty sweet treats. So here are the best places in New York City for anyone with a sweet tooth. Also check out our blog post on the best desserts in New York City for under $5.
Sundaes and Cones – 95 E 10th St
P.C.: yelp, Ben L.
When we are craving sweets, ice cream is one of the first things we think of! One of our go to ice cream parlors is Sundaes and Cones in the East Village. In addition to their scrumptious ice cream, we also highly recommend their yummy milkshakes. It just hits the spot on hot days. Some of the other ice cream parlors that are high on our list include Ice & Vice (221 E Broadway) and Milk & Cream Cereal Bar (159 Mott St).
Eggloo – 60 Mulberry St
If you are looking for something a bit more extravagant, Eggloo adds a twist to the classic ice cream sundae by adding Hong Kong egg waffles. The warm egg waffles and the sweet creamy ice cream is the perfect pair and it is incredibly delicious.
Amorino Gelato – 60 University Pl & Other Locations
In addition to ice cream, there is also gelato. There are so many good gelato places in New York City nowadays but Amorino stands out with their beautiful gelato roses. Trust us, it is as good as it looks and the only downside is that you have to take your Instagram picture quickly so that it doesn’t melt!
Doughnut Plant – 379 Grand St & Other Locations
Doughnuts are another one of our favorite sweet treats and our favorite doughnut shop by far is Doughnut Plant. Their coconut cream and crème brulee doughnuts are simply amazing and it is so hard to leave with just one doughnut here.
Baked By Melissa – 63 Spring St & Other Locations
We love Baked By Melissa’s mini cupcakes because we can try a bunch of flavors at one visit. All their cupcakes are bite sized and delicious. Some of our favorites include chocolate chip pancake, tie dye, cookies & cream and red velvet. Another good place for cupcakes is Georgetown Cupcake (111 Mercer St).
Rita’s Water Ice – Street Fairs
One of the most satisfying sweet treats on a hot summer day are Italian ices. Rita’s has some unusual flavors like Swedish fish that you can’t find elsewhere but we usually stick with the classic lemon flavor. It is the perfect mix of sweet and tart. You can find Rita’s and other Italian ices at street fairs, pizza places and Italian bakeries throughout New York City.
Economy Candy – 108 Rivington St
P.C.: yelp, Jeff H.
Finally, we can’t end this list without some candy! Economy Candy first opened way back in 1937 and it has been serving sweet treats and candies in the Lower East Side ever since. There is much to choose from here and it is a fun trip just looking at all the different candies piled from the floor to the ceiling alone (but of course it doesn’t hurt to leave with a bag or two of candy).
