The Best Places to Eat in Chinatown and Little Italy, New York City

Chinatown and Little Italy are great foodie neighborhoods in New York City, if you know where to look. So here is our list of the best places in eat in Chinatown and Little Italy. There are some popular hotspots, hidden gems and neighborhood favorites.

Chinatown:
Tasty Dumpling – 54 Mulberry St
There are a lot of dumpling shops in Chinatown but Tasty Dumpling makes one of our favorite fried chives and pork dumplings. They are juicy and tasty and they are perfectly pan fried so that they have a nice chewy skin that has some crunch to it.

Aux Epices – 121 Baxter St
Aux Epices is a French and Asian noodle shop on one of the quieter streets in Chinatown. Their signature seafood laksa is always on the top of our list and their vegetable soba is really good too. Another great place for a quick lunch nearby is Nom Wah Tea Parlor (13 Doyers St), the oldest tea parlor in Chinatown and one of favorite places for Dim Sum.

HK Wonton Garden – 79 Mulberry St
Finally when it comes to Chinese cuisine, a good Wonton noodle soup is like a chicken noodle soup. It is the ultimate Chinese comfort food and HK Wonton Garden is our go to restaurant. They burst with flavor in every bite.

Little Italy:
Gelso & Grand – 186 Grand St
Gelso & Grand in the heart of Little Italy is a hip and a modern take on the old Italian Food Center. You can expect a menu full of Italian staples like pizzas, heroes and meatballs. Their prosciutto pizza (which is a tried and true Italian flavor combination) in particular really hits the spot.

Margherita NYC – 197 Grand St
Margherita NYC specializes in margherita pizzas but they also have other Italian delicacies like calzones and gnocchi. All are delicious. Other shops close by for Italian specialties and treats like mozzarella and prosciutto include Di Palo’s (200 Grand St) and Alleva Dairy (188 Grand St).

Mo Gelato – 178 Mulberry St
During the warmer months, you can’t leave Little Italy without some gelato. Our favorite has to be from Mo Gelato. There are bunch of flavors to choose from and some of our favorites has to be their pistachio, coconut and Stracciatella gelato.
