The Best Ramen Restaurants in New York City
As it gets colder, there is no better time for a good, hearty bowl of ramen and we are not talking about the instant ramen that you find in supermarkets. From Chinatown to Midtown (and everywhere in between), here are the best ramen restaurants in New York City.
Ajisen Ramen – 14 Mott St
If you go to Ajisen Ramen in Chinatown during the lunch hours in the weekdays, their Ajisen Ramen Deluxe lunch special is only $8. It is a huge bowl of ramen with three slices of chashu and with what they call a tenderous rib. One thing that make Ajisen Ramen unique is that they use a Chinese tea egg instead of the usual soft boiled egg. All in all, it is a great bargain.
Bassanova Ramen NYC – 76 Mott St
Down the block from Ajisen Ramen also in Chinatown, there is Bassnova Ramen. Their ramen is true to their roots in Japan and their chashu is just outstanding.
Tabata Noodles – 540 9th Ave
Tabata Noodles is surprisingly one of the best ramen shops in New York City. It is located close to the Jacobs Javits Center and the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Their Tonkotsu ramen hits the spot every time but if you want to try something a little different, order their black sesame ramen.
Kambi Ramen House – 351 E 14th St
You can always depend on Kambi Ramen House for a great bowl of ramen at a great price. Look out for their lunch specials. They are many ways to customize your ramen here and it is always high on our list whenever we are in the area.
Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop – 600 11th Ave
Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop is one of the main reasons to make your way to the Gotham Market. You can always taste their attention to detail and we always make sure that our ramen is “fully loaded”.
Ippudo – 65 Fourth Avenue & 321 West 51st Street
Finally when it comes to ramen noodles, Ippudo is the old mainstay in New York City and they still draw a crowd of people every day. Their broth and their toppings are full of flavor so it is definitely well worth the wait. We usually stick with their Akamaru Chashu (which is an Akamaru Modern with extra chashu) but you really can’t go wrong with any of their ramen.
