The Best Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurants in New York City
With so many vegetarian and vegan options in New York City, eating healthy can be easy and exciting! Here are some of the best vegetarian and vegan restaurants in New York City. These restaurants certainly have more than just a salad on the menu.
Vegetarian Dim Sum House – 24 Pell St
We highly recommend Vegetarian Dim Sum House’s vegetarian duck. It is actually layered tofu for texture and it is quite tasty. They also have vegetarian takes on classic dim sum dishes such as rice flour noodle rolls, spring rolls and all sorts of dumplings. Vegetarian Dim Sum House is definitely a must for any vegetarian or foodie.
Blossom Vegan Restaurant – 187 9th Ave
Blossom Vegan Restaurant is the perfect place to take friends and family who are a bit hesitant about vegetarian cuisine. Blossom will definitely open their eyes on the various possibilities that exist with cuisine sans meat. Blossom’s crispy black eyed pea cake made with Yukon gold potatoes and of course black eyed peas with a chipotle aioli is insanely delicious.
Wild Ginger – 380 Broome St
Wild Ginger is a fusion Chinese vegetarian restaurant. They have a menu full of yummy noodles, fried rice and dishes such as their black pepper seitan. We recommend the General Tsao’s soy protein, it’s a must try.
Pure Food and Wine – 125 1/2 E 17th St
Pure Food and Wine in SoHo is one of the go to places for raw organic vegan dishes and it is truly one of the city’s treasures. They make an especially delicious zucchini and tomato lasagna.
Dirt Candy – 430 E 9th St
Dirt Candy offers a fresh, innovative take on vegetarian cuisine with dishes such as jalapeno hush puppies, buttermilk battered cauliflower served with waffles and popcorn pudding.
Candle 79 – 154 E 79th St
In the Upper East Side, Candle 79 has organic vegan dishes such as grilled seitan chimichurri and Moroccan spiced chickpea cakes. The real draw here though is their desserts. We love their chocolate peanut butter bliss and their Mexican chocolate brownies.
