Where to Eat in the Flatiron District, New York City
The Flatiron District is named after the world famous Flatiron Building. This neighborhood has quietly become a must for any foodie with its world class restaurants. So with that in mind, here are our seven picks on where to eat in the Flatiron District, New York City.
Burger & Lobster – 39 W 19th St
Burger & Lobster is a bit north of Union Square in the Flatiron District and they have more choices now on their menu than ever. You can get a grilled or steamed lobster in various sizes (we usually stick with the original 1.5 lb lobster) or you can choose from a delicious assortment of burgers or lobster rolls. There is even a burger with lobster in it. It is amazing!
Dough Doughnuts – 14 W 19th St
Looking for a yummy snack in the area? Dough has some of the best doughnuts you can find in New York City. We especially love the dulce de leche and toasted coconut ones. In fact, whenever we are in the area to go to Burger & Lobster we also go down the block to pick up a few doughnuts too!
Shake Shack – Madison Sq Park
The original Shake Shack location is located in Madison Square Park. From that one “shack” they built it into a burger empire. You have to try their signature Shack burger (if you haven’t already) to see why they are so sought-after.
Gramercy Tavern – 42 E 20th St
The Flatiron District is also renowned for its fine dining. Gramercy Tavern is one of the premier restaurants in New York City (and the world) and their lunch and dinner tasting menus are full of legend. This restaurant is a timeless classic and will always be a mainstay in the New York dining scene.
Eleven Madison Park – 11 Madison Ave
Eleven Madison Park has a gorgeous dining room and the food here is superb. Every dish on their tasting menu is a work of art and they are always keep things exciting. Eleven Madison Park is not a location one will go to often… however it is one meal you will remember for years to come. Also Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s ABC Kitchen (35 E 18th St) is another good pick for fine dining in the area.
Beecher’s Handmade Cheese – 900 Broadway
If you love cheese, you have to make your way to Beecher’s Handmade Cheese. They have a sit-down cafe and the mac & cheese here is an absolute must. They called it the “world’s best” and we have to agree!
Hill Country Barbecue Market – 30 W 26th St
Finally Hill Country is probably our go to place for BBQ in New York City and there are a lot of excellent BBQ restaurants here. The brisket and ribs are just full of flavor and it has us wanting more and more!
